War Hammer, Battle Hammer, Legendary Mallet. To help differentiate the Mace super-class and Mace sub-class, the latter is called "Tipped Maces" instead. Clubs, Tipped Maces, and Hammers are all commonly referred to as Maces, but Clubs/Hammers are not part of the (Tipped) Mace sub-class.Scepters are not part of the (Tipped) Mace sub-class.Wands/Orbs are not part of the Staff sub-class.Note that the in-game tooltips can sometimes be incorrect since they refer to weapon "super-classes" rather than the "sub-classes" that are relevant in most scenarios. Technically, Wands are melee weapons for the purpose of creating runewords. Melee Weapons include all non-ranged weapons except Orbs. They cannot be made in magic/ rare/ crafted/ unique/ set items. Check out my The Countess Farming Guide for more information.Runewords can only be made in regular items ( ethereal or non-ethereal), and the socket count must be exact. The Countess has a guaranteed chance to always drop a High Rune and can even drop more than one. It's also possible to 'ebug' a piece of Ethereal Armor that you find which will increase the Defense bonuses by 50%, check out my Ebugging Guide for more information.įarming High Runes: Out of all locations in the game one stands above the rest for farming specifically High Runes, the Countess during Act 1. If you find a 'Superior' piece of armor with +Enhanced Defense, a Superior Weapon with +Enhanced Damage or a Helm/Weapon that has +Skill bonuses for a certain class, all of these will remain on the final Rune Word that is created. Keep in mind that all Rune Words you create will retain any pre-existing bonuses found on the item. For this reason, Call to Arms is the best offhand Rune Word in the entire game and (if you can afford it) is one of the biggest upgrades you can get for your character. The idea behind Call to Arms is not to use it as your primary weapon but to switch to it occasionally to recast Battle Command and Battle Orders each time the buffs fade. Each of these abilities will benefit from any + Skills that you have on your armor too which means you can make these abilities even better! Battle Command increases you and all nearby allies Skill Levels and Battle Orders increases you and all nearby allies Health, Mana and Stamina.
