I see many on here talking about this and it always seems to start after having had it connected to the pc so I am inclined to think not using the remove usb option is part of the problem.By downloading, installing, or using this map, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the following license agreement. I have a new Drive 60LM on the way now to replace this one anyway because of the touch screen malfunction, I just wanted to see if I could figure out what was causing the reboot loop.

So was it an update or was it the improper method of unplugging it from the pc that caused the problem? IDK!! I did two things in a row before I checked it and now it works again like it should.other than the touch screen is still not working exactly as it should which is a real pain.
After reboot I plugged it back into the vehicle power port and it works fine again.

waited for the update to complete it's install and did a reboot to take affect per instructions on screen. Next powered on the gps using the battery. Updated the 1490, then used the remove option on my pc before I unplugged the gps.

So I reconnected it to the pc.then used express to check for a software update and it was one. Never been a problem before, but who knows. Maybe it is hung up because I just unplugged it without doing the remove option on my pc first. That got me to thinking.maybe I need to reconnect it to the pc and use the remove usb option before I unplug it from my pc. Next I played around with basecamp with it hooked up to the pc. So I thought it all started after I had it hooked up to the pc and downloaded the new maps. Tried a reset, but it wouldn't respond, my touch screen is not working exactly as it is supposed too. I tried removing the sd card, but that didn't help. I had the same problem with my 1490 rebooting on the power cord, but worked fine on the battery. The request to reboot firmware should now go away. Once this is done, unplug the unit and let it power down or reboot, whichever it chooses. Safely remove your device from your computer using the Safely Remove Hardware program in your computer's system tray. Delete this file by holding SHIFT and pressing the DEL key.ġ0. Find the ".system" folder and locate the file "GUPDATE.GCD"ĩ. Right click the Garmin nuvi drive that appears in My ComputerĨ. Simultaneously press the windows START key and the E key, this brings up your file explorer.ħ.
You can now browse the system folder on the Garmin. After the progress bar completes (45-60 seconds) the device should go into Mass Storage mode with the picture of a computer tower on the display of the device.Ħ. My software version shows the same as when I'd done the update, but myGarmin reports I need to upgrade my software. No idea if this is connected to the update or not. I no longer have the reboot request, and oddly enough, it's picking up satellites faster now, and indoors which it wasn't doing prior. I somewhat resolved the issue by removing the software update file from the Garmin. This is followup for my previous message yesterday.
